Bit By Bit

There is a person. They live a normal life. They begin to change. They wake up. This happens in phases. Bit by bit, their material life changes with their mental life. From the center of civilisation they shift outward, toward the perimeter, phase by phase.

The boots, pants, and shirt comes off. Naked, they keep going. Their hair falls out. Their flesh falls away. Their bones break loose as they trek. Then they are. They are there. They stay there. Then they leave there. They regain form on the way. They reach town. They enter town. The first person they see gives them clothes. The second person gives them a tool. The third person gives them a memento. The next people offer society. They reach the center of civilisation. A person, with identity. But a person remembers that they are not; and sleeps lighter; and wakes up earlier; and treks outward. Stopping to have a conversation on the way.
